Castrofilippo Roots Tour
Family Roots in Castrofilippo
My family and I just finished a wonderful tour today, visiting my dad’s hometown of Castrofilippo. What an amazing experience!
We are currently booked on a 10-day Globus tour of Sicily and had some free time in Agrigento. Knowing this I had reached out to Michele Gallo a few months ago wanting to take a side trip to Castrofilippo which was about 25 minutes away. Michele was great. Email communication was easy and when our tour changed at the last minute, he was able to call the hotel and reach our Globus guide to find me.
Our tour guide Carmelina Cacciatore was a delight; a NJ resident she moved back to Sicily with her parents and now does these family tours. She had done her visit to the town and was able to get us into the town hall to pull some of my grandparents records, showed us the cemetery where we did some investigation and brought us to the street and house my dad was born. Gian Luca our driver was expert at navigating the tight passages of this small town.
My family and I are overwhelmed and it was the highlight for sure of our trip to Sicily. The team made it extra special and a big Mille Grazie to Michele, Carmelita, and GianLuca!
